Newcastle ready ‘huge Bryan Mbeumo offer’ – Transfer guru
Newcastle United are planning to make a “huge” move to sign Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo as they prioritise the singing of a new right-winger.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that Newcastle would be the “ideal” move for the winger.
Football Insider revealed on 26 November that the Magpies have relaxed their efforts to sign a new centre-back, and would instead turn their attentions elsewhere.
Mbeumo, 25, is said to be at the top of their list of options for a new winger as Eddie Howe is a fan of his work ethic off the ball as well as his talent in possession.
So far this season, the Cameroon international has scored eight goals and provided one assist in 14 Premier League appearances for the Bees.
He has become a crucial player in Thomas Frank’s side, and as a result, they are not willing to let him leave in January unless a large offer arrives.
Brown has warned that Newcastle will not be able to spend big money in January as a result of their difficult financial situation and the threat of profit and sustainability breaches.
Newcastle United plan to push for Bryan Mbeumo deal next summer
Mbeumo has been heavily linked with a move away from Brentford in the near future, with Arsenal also among the clubs keeping an eye on his situation.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that Newcastle will push to get a deal over the line at the end of the season.
“Mbeumo is definitely their top target for the position,” he told Football Insider.
“They want to sign a new right-winger as a priority because the squad is a bit lacking in balance at the moment on that side.
“Newcastle is the sort of club I think would be ideal for him if he wants to leave Brentford.
“But I’d expect it to take a huge fee to get him out of Brentford because they won’t want to see him go.
“It won’t happen in January, I’m fairly certain of that, because Newcastle are restricted in what they’ll be able to spend.
“But when it comes to the summer, that’s one I’ll think they’ll look to get over the line.
“He works hard, as well, he’s not just one of these flashy wingers. That’s what Howe will want.

“He works hard, scores plenty of goals, he’s quick and direct and makes an impact on the game. That’s exactly the type of player Newcastle need.”
