Newcastle response emerges after Alexander Isak issues accusations online
Newcastle have responded after Alexander Isak made a damning and critical statement against the club on social media.
Both parties are at a stalemate with neither side refusing to budge on their stances.
Newcastle do not want to sell Isak and have set an asking price of £150million [BBC Sport] for the striker in the hopes that it will ward off interest from Liverpool.
The 25-year-old, in a bid to pressure his side into selling, has gone on strike and did not participate in any of his team’s pre-season preparations, or their opening game of the season against Aston Villa which finished as a 0-0 draw on Saturday (16 August).
The PFA awards took place on Tuesday, 19 August, and Isak was a notable absence despite being voted into the PFA’s Team of the Year.

Newcastle ‘wont be bullied or back down’ over Alexander Isak
Following the ceremony, the former Real Sociedad striker shared a post on Instagram, in which he highlighted “promises were made and that club has known my position for a long time”.
Isak also claimed “to now act as if these issues are only emerging is misleading”, and the most damning part of his statement read “when promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can’t continue”.
Following the surprising post from the wantaway striker, The Telegraph’s Luke Edwards shared on X that: “Newcastle United continue to insist this evening, despite Alexander Isak’s accusations on Instagram, that the player is not for sale. They are not going to be bullied or back down either”.
Liverpool may decide that Alexander Isak is not worth the hassle
Football Insider Verdict
Isak is making stunning accusations, Newcastle are firing back, fans around England watch in anticipation.
And yet, throughout this whole debacle, Liverpool are seemingly doing nothing.
It begs the questions, is it possible that amidst the chaos that the reigning champions of England have lost interest in Isak?
It’s unlikely they would turn down the chance to sign him tomorrow if they were given the opportunity to secure the 25-year-old at a fee they deem reasonable.

But the ugly mess that lays before us is unlikely to appeal greatly to Arne Slot or the Reds’ hierarchy.
What’s more, Hugo Ekitike has been firing for Liverpool and Isak would only serve to impede on his development as a striker.
It seems hard to fathom, but the Reds may decide that the Sweden international just isn’t worth the hassle this summer, and they may move on to other targets.
