Newcastle senior man growing increasingly frustrated – report
By Harvey Byrne
Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez is growing increasingly frustrated at the club’s slow summer, according to a report.
The Sun has claimed that behind-the-scenes the 57-year-old is agitated with the Magpies so far missing out on a number of targets after claiming the Championship title last season.
However, it is also detailed that the Spaniard is not on the brink of leaving the north east giants, which will bring some calm to the Newcastle support.
It is stated by the Sun that so far this summer the Toon have failed to sign Napoli veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina as well as Manchester City stopper Willy Caballero alongside former Hull centre-back Harry Maguire, who has made the switch to Leicester.
The only player they have so far managed to capture is Ghanaian hotshot Christian Atsu, who made his move from Chelsea permanent one in an undisclosed deal.
Benitez will understandably be keen to strengthen his promotion winning team this summer as he aims to keep the Magpies in the English top-flight.
However, owner Mike Ashley is also known for keeping to a tight budget, which could once more bring a season of struggle for Newcastle.
In other Newcastle news, the Magpies have baulked at this price tag placed on international target.
