Newcastle have made an offer for FC Metz attacker Ismaila Sarr, according to a report.
France Football claim that the Magpies have submitted a £10.5million offer the 19-year-old winger.
It is understood that Ligue 1 club Metz are looking to obtain £13.1million for their teenager as he is under contract with them until 2021.
The report details that Premier League club Watford have withdrawn their interest for the wide man, while French club Lille are keen on him.
Sarr has impressed during his debut season in the French league and scored five times in 31 appearances.
The Senegalese ace is a highly rated youngster and is blessed with phenomenal pace.
Rafael Benitez is set to undergo a busy summer transfer window and may need a new wide man as Yoan Gouffran is reportedly set to leave St James’ Park.
Football Insider verdict:
Newcastle certainly need to bolster their options in the summer and in particular their attacking area needs improving. They already have proven Premier League performer Matt Ritchie in their squad, but could do with another top-class winger to star in the top flight. Sarr is an emerging talent in European football and has proved in the French League that he has got some serious quality. His pace and trickery make him seem like a future Premier League player and his large price tag is due to his potential. Benitez may wish to pursue a move for the youngster, but they could still do with a proven performer to supplement the squad too.
In other Newcastle transfer news, they are in talks with Chelsea about a loan move for their 19-year-old.
