Newcastle tipped for £100m January spend after source update on three new signings - pundit

Newcastle United will give Eddie Howe between £50million to £100million to spend in the January transfer window.

That is the view of former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 43-year-old’s appointment at St. James’ Park.

As quoted by the Express (10th November), Howe refused to be drawn on questions about the January window as it “doesn’t do any good” for his players.

A Newcastle source has told Football Insider that the club will target three major signings in the January transfer window and are prepared to spend big to get them.

Campbell suggested the current squad is “not good enough” to beat the drop.

“I think he’ll be given a big budget in January,” he told Football Insider.

“They are not good enough as a team and as a squad right now. They need better players.

“For all the people levelling stuff at Eddie Howe, look what he did at Bournemouth. I don’t get all of the people firing shots at a man who took a club from nowhere to the Premier League.

“He plays incredible, exciting football as well. People need to step back and look at what he’s done. He is a smart manager.

“I know he said he isn’t thinking about January but he has to be. He needs £50-100million to spend in January and I’m sure he’ll be given it.

“They could do with five or six players but I think they will get three quality players instead.”

In other news, Howe has been told by pundit to ‘get on with it’ as Newcastle close in on landmark hire which could ‘undermine’ him.
