Newcastle tipped to complete Dele Alli signing within days after development in last 24 hours – pundit

Dele Alli will jump at the chance to join Newcastle United after being dropped by Tottenham.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the midfielder’s options.

A source with knowledge of Alli’s situation told Football Insider on Saturday (22 January) that the player is “very keen” to move to St. James’ Park to reignite his career.

It is understood that Newcastle have opened preliminary talks with Spurs over a deal for the 37-times England international.

The 25-year-old was dropped from Antonio Conte’s matchday squad for Sunday’s (23 January) game against Chelsea.

Kenny insists Alli “wants” to move to Newcastle and predicted a deal will be done this week.

“I mean, it’s not happening for Alli, is it?” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“He keeps getting chances to spark a revival in his career but it doesn’t happen.

“I think the best thing for him to do is to move away. Newcastle could be the perfect place for him.”

“He would immediately be one of their best players and Newcastle fans would love him if he played well.

“We know Newcastle need players before the window shuts, I think they will take whoever they can get.

“But I think a move for Alli makes sense for everyone.”I think he wants that.”
