Newcastle tipped to sign Origi ‘now’ after source’s £37.5m update today – Kenny

Newcastle could revive interest in Divock Origi with Liverpool looking to sign Luis Diaz.

That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider as the Reds look set to make the Porto winger their first singing of the window.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier today (28 January), Diaz, 25, is set to undergo a medical in Argentina this weekend after Liverpool had a bid accepted by Porto.

The Merseyside giants have offered an initial £37.5million plus £12.5m of add-ons for the Colombia international and that is believed to have been accepted.

Should Diaz sign, Liverpool will have him, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota ahead of Origi in the pecking order.

The Telegraph reported on 6 January that the striker was a target for Newcastle and Kenny claims they will revive their interest.

“Newcastle could go back in for Origi now,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“I think they will, there was a bit of interest earlier in the window I think.

“I would expect he’s available now with Diaz coming in. Liverpool may as well cash in.

“He has done a job every time he has been given a chance by Liverpool.

“He’s got the experience and he gives Newcastle a much better option in attack.

“That’s a deal I can see happening.”

Newcastle have signed Kieran Trippier and Chris Wood this month.

As revealed by this site, they have also had a bid accepted for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
