Newcastle told to accept Liverpool’s ‘£100m’ Anthony Gordon bid – fans react

Newcastle United fans have insisted Liverpool will have to pay between £100million and £150million to sign Anthony Gordon before 1 September.

Reports told fans to “keep an eye” on Gordon’s situation, with Liverpool closely monitoring with a possible big-money move in mind.

As revealed by Football Insider earlier this month, Newcastle told Liverpool during talks they want a jaw-dropping £100million package if they are to let the winger leave before the transfer deadline.

Interest from Liverpool surfaced after Gordon scored 12 goals and provided 11 assists last season, with his boyhood club looking to strike a deal.

His performances also earned him a call-up for Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 squad, but he played just five minutes from the bench and failed to make an impact.

Liverpool want to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United

Liverpool have been targeting a move to sign the winger since the transfer window opened, having originally hoped to take advantage of Newcastle’s financial issues.

However, those issues were cleared by the sales of Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh on 30 June, allowing the Magpies more room to operate.

Now, fans have insisted the minimum Liverpool will have to pay for Gordon is £100million, with many insisting they would not be able to afford the asking price.

However, supporters have also raised concerns about the winger’s absence in pre-season after he was given an extended break following Euro 2024.

While Bruno Guimaraes joined the squad on their tour of Japan, despite featuring heavily for Brazil at the Copa America, Gordon remains on holiday.

As a result, fans have warned others to “brace yourself” for his exit.

In other news, Liverpool are planning to sign a new defensive midfielder before the window closes.
