Newcastle told to appoint Mourinho amid intriguing inside source update - Mills
Jose Mourinho would be the perfect manager for Newcastle United, according to Danny Mills.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Middlesbrough and England defender insisted there would be nobody better to deliver instant success.
A Newcastle source told Football Insider (October 13) the club want to appoint Brendan Rodgers as their new manager as well as Brian Marwood as their new chief executive.
This site exclusively revealed (October 12) Rodgers was part of a three-man shortlist alongside Steven Gerrard and Rafa Benitez.
But Mills has insisted Mourinho, 58, is the best equipped to build a title-winning team from scratch.
He told Football Insider‘s Connor Whitley: “There are two scenarios.

“You either bring in an absolute stellar name and eight new signings in the transfer window and go ‘Boom, have that’. Go from second bottom to trying to get in the top-six which would be very, very difficult.
“Or, it’s almost as if they’ve got to go for an interim manager because they’re in a relegation battle. That’s completely different from pushing for titles and it probably needs a different type of manager.
“They’ve got that dilemma, do they go big immediately? Or, try and build over the next two years and then you might need a new manager for the next step.
“This is probably controversial but if you’ve got that much money and you are prepared to build a team for scratch and give that manager all the money in the world to do it, the one manager you go to is Jose.
“If I’m sitting in that Newcastle United boardroom now and saying ‘We want success as fast as possible, no matter what it costs’. Who is the best manager out there at putting a team together almost from scratch? It’s Jose.”
