Newcastle United backed to beat Everton in Armando Broja race after what expert’s seen in person
Newcastle United can win the race for Chelsea star Armando Broja.
That’s according to former Aston Villa and Scotland boss Alex McLeish, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 20-year-old’s future.
According to The Athletic (4 July), Everton, West Ham, and Newcastle are all interested in signing Broja this summer.
The report claims the striker is not interested in another loan exit – and will only leave the London club on a permanent basis.
On Tuesday (12 July), David Ornstein reported Broja will travel to the USA to link up with Chelsea’s pre-season tour after not initially travelling due to speculation on his future.
McLeish insists it will be hard for Broja to choose between clubs like Newcastle and Everton.
“I saw him at Southampton last year actually, I was at one of the games in the second half of the season,” McLeish told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild
“He looked a good player, he has the strength to take people on, on the edge of the box. Who do I think he would go to?
“Newcastle, everyone’s ears are pricking up when your agent hears Newcastle are interested in you. Players are getting excited about the prospect of their growth.
“Of course, financial fair play regulations will come in because they can’t grow too quickly. They certainly have the ambition.
“Everton are also a sleeping giant of a club. They just need a wee shakeup as well. It depends on the player’s mind and how he feels.
“Between the two of them, it is very difficult to choose”

Chelsea could reportedly demand a fee of around £30million for Broja.
He scored nine goals in 38 games on loan at Southampton last term and is under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2026.
In other news, pundit claims West Ham could walk away from £7.5m deal after “ground-breaking” twist.
