Newcastle United face ‘big problem’ after source’s Alexander Isak reveal – ‘Idiots’, says pundit

Newcastle United “should be allowed” to spend more money as the Premier League’s FFP rules put them at a “disadvantage”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie was baffled that the world’s richest football club will likely be forced to sell key players before financing new transfers.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (7 April) that the Magpies may have to sell Alexander Isak, or a similar-profile star, this summer to balance their books.

Everton and Nottingham Forest have been hit with points deductions this season for breaching the allowed losses over a three-year period, and Eddie Howe’s side could be forced into action to avoid a similar punishment.

Newcastle United have ‘big problem’ with FFP restrictions

McAvennie blasted the “stupid” FFP rules and suggested that the Magpies will have a “big problem” developing their squad due to these financial constraints.

“There’s a big problem,” he told Football Insider.

“How can the richest club in the world not be able to spend money and keep their best players – like Bruno Guimaraes or Isak.

“They have to sell to buy? Really?

“I don’t get it.

“What kind of stupid idiots put these FFP rules in?

“Newcastle have to sell one of their big players before they can buy anyone – that’s just a disadvantage.

“It’s not fair that they have to do that.

“I will never understand why this is allowed.

“The richest club in the world should be allowed to spend money and this baffles belief how some of these people are in the job.”
