Newcastle United fans lash out at PiF owners after ‘grim’ £50m+ reveal
Newcastle United fans are fuming at their ownership after the club’s “grim” financial position was revealed.
Reports claimed that the club were fearing a double-digit points deduction and faced a £50million+ black hole on 29th June before player sales were rushed through.
The sales of Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson on 30 June ultimately saw the club ease the threat of a financial rule breach, but the rush to sell players has left fans concerned.
Profit and sustainability rules in the Premier League prevent clubs from making losses of over £105million in a three-year period, with the 30 June cutoff date crucial to keep the books balanced.
Both Everton and Nottingham Forest were handed points deductions last season after breaching PSR rules, leading to fears that Newcastle could be next.

Given the sales of the club’s two most promising academy graduates, it has now become clear that Newcastle were in a trickier position than it initially seemed.
As a result, fans have labelled the situation an “absolute mess”, with many calling for those responsible to be held accountable and explain their decision to the supporters.
Many, meanwhile, called for new staff to be brought in to get a better handle on the situation behind the scenes at St James’ Park.
