Newcastle United fans have been left raging at Tottenham star James Maddison after his performance in the clash at St James’ Park.
Eddie Howe’s side claimed all three points as they fought to an impressive 2-1 victory against Spurs at home despite facing plenty of pressure.
However, the spotlight rested on the English midfielder and his display, with supporters left raging at his constant attempts to draw free-kicks.
Maddison went to ground under minimal contact on multiple occasions throughout the game as he looked to buy fouls from referee Nick Jones.
Often exaggerating contact and throwing himself to the floor when he could have played on, the midfielder was a constant source of frustration.
While he was told to get back up after some of the apparent dives, he was able to con the officials on more than one occasion, leading to anger among the home supporters.

It was a relatively ineffective performance from Maddison on the day despite the final scoreline as he found it difficult to grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
However, he still managed to make an impact after Nick Pope parried his strike in the buildup to Tottenham’s equalising goal.
It was his antics on the pitch that left fans talking, however, with many flooding to social media to express their anger – labelling him “embarrassing” and a “cheat”.
