Eddie Howe’s side ran out 4-1 winners in Japan, with Murphy scoring twice as he took his pre-season tally to four goals so far.
Miguel Almiron is widely expected to start the season at right wing despite interest in a move away from St James’ Park, but the Englishman is mounting a challenge for his position.
Newcastle have also been looking to sign a new winger in the transfer window, but after Murphy’s impressive form, fans have suggested he could become the first-choice option.
