Newcastle United fans upset at Dan Ashworth to Man United latest – ‘This is really bad’
Newcastle United fans are very worried about sporting director Dan Ashworth leaving the club amid growing links to Man United.
The Magpies are reportedly bracing themselves for Ashworth’s exit to the Premier League giants, with new Man United shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe implementing a swathe of backroom changes at Old Trafford.
Ashworth left Brighton in February 2022 and has since been a key figure of Newcastle’s backroom staff as they attempt to disrupt the established Premier League Big Six and become regulars in Europe.
Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth is being eyed up by Man United – and fans are not happy
The 52-year-old, who has developed a reputation as a top-quality talent spotter at the Seagulls and Newcastle, is reportedly Man United’s top target, but an official approach to lure him away from Tyneside is yet to be made.
Man United would have to fork out a multi-million-pound compensation fee to break Ashworth’s current contract, but he has reportedly held positive talks with Erik ten Hag’s side ahead of a formal approach.
With Ashworth being instrumental to the Magpies’ remarkably quick success in recent seasons, many fans have not taken his potential exit well.
They have taken to social media to react to the “huge blow”.
