Newcastle United have just dropped significant stadium hint – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the appointment of a property expert to the Newcastle United board is a clear “signal” they are going ahead with a stadium rebuild.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested new training ground facilities could also be in the Magpies’ future.
iNews reported last week (25 September) that Newcastle will shortly confirm a new appointment to the board connected to minority owners the Reuben Brothers.
The individual is believed to have extensive experience managing the British duo’s commercial property portfolio.
Newcastle have been looking to redevelop St James’ Park and a feasibility study was set in motion in 2022, with the results yet to be delivered.
The famous stadium currently holds 52,000 and was last renovated in 2000.
‘It’s Happening’ – Wyness on Newcastle stadium rebuild
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “The Reuben Brothers are playing a very important role because they understand the property market in Newcastle.
“They are key players in it.
“Any new stadium, and new training ground – this is a signal that things are happening.

“It could be a new stadium build, we know they’re looking at new training facilities – it’s just about having the extra day-to-day experience at board level when you’re getting into big infrastructure projects.
“It’s a positive sign for Newcastle.”
