Finance guru: Newcastle negotiators are being ‘pushed to the limit’ after news on six January signings
Newcastle United will be pushed to the limit by opportunist agents during this January transfer window.
So say finance expert Doctor Dan Plumley, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about obstacles in the way of the Magpies’ transfer ambitions.
Newcastle’s Saudi financiers have said they will make a point of not being held to ransom in this window, per iNews last Thursday (30 December).

The same outlet reported last Sunday (2 January) that Newcastle are hopeful of signing as many as six new stars before the month is out.
But Plumley predicts that the Magpies face a stern test if they are committed to paying fair market price for transfer targets.
“They have got to have a limit,” the Sheffield Hallam University expert told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.
“People are looking at them knowing how much cash sits behind that ownership structure. You’d think that limit would be pushed.
“Agents want to move their players. If Newcastle is on the agenda, you can see premiums being talked about because they know the owners are good for it.“
“But that has all got to fit in with what the club want to do strategically and what they are willing to spend under FFP.
“The league position is a big challenge because attracting players is difficult when you’re in a relegation battle.
“If you want to attract good players, they might come at a premium price because of where you are.
“They also need to get out of that situation because they need to keep the money coming in from the TV deal.”

The Express reported yesterday (3 January) that Newcastle and Atletico Madrid are on the verge of agreeing a £25million deal for Kieran Trippier.
Eddie Howe’s side are 19th in the Premier League after 19 matches.
In other news, pundit tells Newcastle United to be “very careful” as “astronomical” Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang signing on the cards.
