Newcastle United news: Pundit verdict on Real Madrid ‘coming in’ for Bruno Guimaraes after source’s reveal

Newcastle United will not entertain bids for Bruno Guimaraes in upcoming transfer windows.

That is the view of former Arsenal and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future at St. James’ Park.

Guimaraes has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season.

Sources have told Football Insider (15 October) that the Magpies plan to offer the centre-midfielder a new and improved long-term deal worth around £200,000-a-week.

Speaking on the matter, manager Eddie Howe said the club “desperately want Bruno to be happy” on Tyneside.

The Brazilian’s current contract at St. James’ Park runs until the end of June 2026.

When asked by Football Insider if the Magpies could fend off interest from the likes of Real Madrid to keep their star man, Campbell said: “Signing him was a masterstroke.

“Bruno Guimaraes could have gone to a number of other clubs. Some that are more prestigious that Newcastle, even though they are a huge club.

“The ownership sold him the project at Newcastle though. Could he become a legend there? Of course he could.

“He has not gone there thinking he is going to be the only star. He is there to make a name for himself. When the other stars arrive he will have been the first.

“Real Madrid could come in but Newcastle do not need to sell. They have deep pockets now so they can compete financially.”
