Newcastle United on track to reach 'elite level' after 'monster' deal agreed - pundit

Newcastle United could soon become an “elite level” club thanks to a range of partnerships that have been recently agreed.

That’s according to former Hibernian striker Tam McManus, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the club’s latest announcement.

On Tuesday (15 November), Newcastle announced a new partnership with Monster Energy, who will now serve as the club’s official energy drink partner.

This is the latest of several new partnerships announced by the club since October 2021’s Saudi-backed takeover of the club.

Saudi Airlines will serve as the club’s sponsor during their warm-weather winter training camp in the Gulf.

McManus expects Newcastle are one of the most attractive clubs for potential partners to target.

“Newcastle are a massive club but they have been in the doldrums for the last 15 years,” McManus told Football Insider‘s Ben Wild.

“The new owners have brought fresh life into the club and the city, they are doing well. When you are doing well, it is an easy sell.

“Newcastle are in the Champions League spots and there is such positivity around the city. It makes everyone’s job easier.

“Newcastle will be on the hunt for sponsors to take them to that elite level. The so-called big six clubs have absolutely loads of sponsors and that is why they can make so many signings.

“The days of relying on supporters for extra income are long gone, you have to source big companies, big fish to bring that money in.

“Ultimately that will lead to a bigger budget for the manager. More sponsors can only improve a football club overall.”
