Kieran Magire blasts Ashley for his 'huge ego' after latest Newcastle controversy
Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley is “playing games” with the fans by refusing to release the club’s accounts on time.
So says finance boffin Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the latest chapter in Ashley’s uneasy relationship with the Toon Army.
The Magpies have not yet submitted their accounts which, as per Companies House, were due on 31st July.
Newcastle are the only team yet to file their annual report and have already extended their accounting date on one occasion this year.
Maguire claims that Ashley, who is looking to sell the club, is delaying publication out of spite for the supporters.
“He knows that it will wind up the fanbase,” he told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams.

“Mike Ashley likes playing games and this is straight from his playbook. He does it because he can, it’s as simple as that.
“They will probably be released within the next couple of weeks, but this is just a bit of sabre-rattling from Ashley.
“They are already a year out of date so the actual value of delaying by a week or two is essentially zero.
“This is a man with a huge ego showing that he can disregard company law because he is very happy to pay the fine that comes with a late submission.
“He doesn’t want to give Newcastle fans any more information about the club because he holds them in such contempt.“
