Burn has been Howe’s first-choice having started 20 games in the Premier League this season.
Newcastle United want to replace Dan Burn
However, Newcastle are eager to strengthen in this position as the 31-year-old is not seen as a long-term option for the club.
The Tyneside outfit are expected to be very active this summer as they vie to become a regular in European competitions and challengers to the Premier League.
Sources have told Football Insider (3 March), that they are planning to sign a centre-back, a central midfielder and a striker this summer.
Burn has contributed to the attack this season having scored four goals and provided two assists in all competitions this season.
The club’s hierarchy are expected to back Howe in the transfer window, with Football Insider revealing (2 March) that their summer transfer plans will be spearheaded by the manager.

Therefore, the ex-Bournemouth boss is set to have a huge say in the profile of the club’s next first-choice left-back option.
The Magpies are also eyeing reinforcements to the midfield, with Football Insider revealing (19 February) that they and Tottenham are keeping tabs on Everton star James Garner ahead of a potential summer swoop.
