Newcastle United ready new Conor Gallagher swoop – sources
Newcastle United are weighing up a potential new swoop for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on 2 April that Gallagher is “definitely” leaving Stamford Bridge in the off-season as the Blues scramble to raise funds to avoid a potential Premier League charge.
The 24-year-old will have just 12 months left on his contract in June and is no closer to renewing his deal at Chelsea following a recent halt in talks.
He is a home-grown player and therefore the Londoners can rake in pure profit in their financial books by selling him this summer.
Newcastle hold a long-term interest in the midfielder and tried to bring him to St James’ Park last year (2023).
Gallagher rejected a move away from Chelsea at that time as he was keen to nail down a starting berth at his boyhood club.

But a wave of big-money signings have since arrived at Stamford Bridge and he is set to be moved on in the off-season.
Also keen on a deal for the England international are Tottenham – with Football Insider revealing last month (24 March) that Spurs are set to table an initial bid of between £30-£40million for his services.
Gallagher has made 43 appearances across all competitions this term, with 39 of those outings coming as part of the starting lineup.

He has regularly worn the captain’s armband for Mauricio Pochettino’s side since the Argentine arrived.
The Epsom-born star has now made 129 total appearances in the Premier League, notching 16 goals and 12 assists.
