Newcastle United three-man summer signing list named – sources

Newcastle United have Marc Guehi, Lloyd Kelly and Robin Le Normand on their target list for this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Magpies will fast-track the recruitment of a centre-back following long-term injuries to Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.

The duo look set to miss up to nine months with anterior cruciate ligament ruptures, with Lascelles, 30, coming off injured in the first half of Newcastle’s 4-3 win over West Ham on Saturday (30 March).

Now, Eddie Howes’ side will step up their efforts to add reinforcements to their backline, with Football Insider revealing (3 April) that they planning to sign two central defenders in the upcoming transfer window.

Bournemouth star Kelly, 25, is set to become a free agent at the end of the season and can play at left-back or centre-back.

Howe brought him to the Vitality Stadium during his tenure at the south coast club back in 2019, but Liverpool and Tottenham are among the other sides linked with the former England under-21 star.

It is believed that Guehi, 23, would cost Newcastle upwards of £40million from Crystal Palace this summer, but he has been sidelined with a knee injury since mid-February.

The England regular’s spot on Gareth Southgate’s Euros squad is at risk, but he is set to return to fitness by mid-April.

Real Sociedad star Le Normand, 27, has been a regular for the La Liga side this season having started 22 of their league games.

He would also come with European experience having started seven of Sociedad’s Champions League games this season before they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16.
