Kieran Maguire: 'More deals coming soon' as Newcastle United reach 'strong' agreement

The Newcastle United deal with Saudia airlines is a sign of things to come and supporters should expect to see more deals with Saudi companies in the near future.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Magpies’ commercial arrangements for their imminent tour of their owners’ homeland.

Eddie Howe’s side travelled to Saudi Arabia for the winter break in January this year and will do the same during the pause for the mid-season World Cup in Qatar.

The club announced on Wedensday (16 November) that they had partnered with Saudia, the nation’s national carrier, ahead of the warm weather training camp.

It is not the first deal Newcastle have with a company in the region – they signed with PIF-linked Noon.com ahead of 2021-22 and they are expected to strike naming rights and front-of-shirt deals with similar firms.

Maguire saluted the arrangement with Saudia and assessed what it says about the Magpies overall commercial strategy.

“Newcastle’s relationship with the Saudia airline is logical,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams.

“Given that it is a local area that they are going to, it makes sense to have a local partner for the tour.

“Clearly, therefore, there is a stronger and stronger relationship between the football club and potential commercial partners in that region.

“Expect to see more of these deals as the club develops and grows.
