Next Liverpool manager: Brighton search for Roberto De Zerbi replacement after ‘huge’ news
Brighton are expecting a “huge” battle to keep manager Roberto De Zerbi at the club amid interest from the likes of Liverpool and Man United, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed the Seagulls are already looking for replacements for the 44-year-old Italian ahead of the off-season.
De Zerbi is on Liverpool’s shortlist as they search for a successor to departing boss Jurgen Klopp – but as revealed by Football Insider (16 February), Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso remains the Reds’ top choice.
The former Sassuolo manager is also on the radar of many top clubs in Europe and the Premier League, with Barcelona and Man United among those keeping tabs on his situation.
Liverpool, Man United and Barcelona battle for Brighton boss De Zerbi?
Tottenham were keen on luring the Brighton boss to the London club last summer before De Zerbi decided to stay on the south coast for one more year.
It is believed he is now keen to manage a club in the Champions League – or with Champions League potential.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that De Zerbi has a release clause in his contract at the Amex Stadium worth around £10million.
His deal runs until June 2026 after succeeding Graham Potter at the club in September 2022.
De Zerbi has recently claimed he will soon speak to the Seagulls’ owners about his future – admitting he wants to compete for football’s biggest honours in his managerial career.

The Italian has won 35 of his 73 games in charge at Brighton and led them to a sixth-place finish last term.
This season, he has the south coast club sitting seventh in the table with 10 wins from a possible 25.
