Nick Pope’s new price tag revealed, James Trafford signing latest

Newcastle United have set an official price tag for Nick Pope as the club’s interest in James Trafford has been revealed, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 32-year-old still has “a lot of years ahead of him” in football.

The England international only has one year left on his contract coming into the summer transfer window, and his experience and quality is set to allow Newcastle to demand a healthy fee.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Pope would cost £10-15million for any club looking to prize him away from the Magpies.

Pope is still seen as one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League and someone who is regularly involved at an international level which raises his fee.

However, Newcastle are unlikely to sell Pope unless they have a replacement lined up to take his spot moving forward.

Newcastle are looking to sign James Trafford

Well-placed sources have informed Football Insider that Newcastle are interested in signing Burnley’s Trafford in the summer transfer window.

The 22-year-old was seen as coming in to be the number two at St James’s Park, working as the long-term cover and eventual replacement for Pope.

There are question marks over whether or not Trafford would be joining the club to be the first-choice goalkeeper, which is why it remains questionable as to whether or not Pope will be sold.

Trafford is having an impressive season at Turf Moor, with Burnley having only conceded nine goals in 34 games so far in the Championship.
