Nigel Spink has provided a damning verdict of Gabby Agbonlahor by stating the Aston Villa senior player is “done” at the club.
The 30-year-old was brought back from the cold by manager Steve Bruce in October as his career in claret and blue seemed to be over.
Agbonlahor was part of the club’s humiliating relegation last season as numerous off the field issues saw him give up the captaincy and be suspended by the club.
He was put on a fitness programme at the back end of last season and was put on the same regime when Bruce walked through the door in mid-October.
All of this saw his reputation with supporters diminish as club legend and European cup winner Spink cannot see why he is selected.
“I think he is done Agbonlahor for me at Villa,” Spink told BBC Radio West Midlands “The way he has treated the supporters, the way he has treated the club.
“I don’t know what he offers. He had a bit of pace when he was younger, he has lost that, I don’t think he is a threat anymore.”
Agbonlahor scored only one goal last term as his goal tally has dried up in recent seasons which has seen him criticised by fans.
In the Championship, he has played nine games, starting two, failing to score or provide an assist.
He was also selected in the starting line-up for the 2-0 defeat at Tottenham in the FA Cup at the weekend.
Moving forward, Agbonlahor could be in line to make a second consecutive start on Saturday evening as Villa travel to Midlands rivals Wolves.
Key striker Jonathan Kodjia is currently away on international duty with the Ivory Coast where he is participating in the Africa Cup of nations.
In other Aston Villa news, Nigel Spinks believes this player thinks he is Lionel Messi.
