New Rangers signing James Graham turned down top Premier League sides to join the Glasgow giants, according to Alan Hutton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Scotland defender believes the fact the 16-year-old is Ibrox-daft meant there was no real competition for Steven Gerrard’s men.
The Light Blues confirmed the capture of Graham from Ross County last week, with academy chief Craig Mulholland revealing the youngster chose to join his boyhood club over some of the “top English academies”.

Hutton claims that there would have been little to no doubt in the teenager’s mind as to where he wanted to move, suggesting he would have turned down the opportunity to move to England to seal a deal with Rangers.
Asked if he thought the deal was ever in doubt, Hutton told Football Insider: “I wouldn’t have thought so – I heard he’d been on a few trials with a couple of the bigger teams down south but you know what it’s like.
“You grow up as a youngster and you support one of the Old Firm teams and all you want to do is play for one of those teams. As soon as they come knocking it’s a no brainer for them, you quickly jump to it and sign the contract.
“He’s obviously got great potential if teams down south are watching him but I see it being such a big pull at Rangers, especially being a supporter, so it doesn’t surprise me that he’s signed.”
The Daily Record report that Graham had trials at Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United prior to joining Rangers, while Wolves were also said to be interested.
While he is yet to make his first-team bow, the teen talent was featuring for Ross County’s under-18 side last season.
In other Rangers news, a journalist has waxed lyrical to Football Insider as the club finalise “outstanding” new signing.
