Nobby Solano sends Twitter message to Newcastle fans ahead of Barnsley clash
By Will Butcher
Nolberto Solano is hopeful that Newcastle will gain promotion to the Premier League as champions with victory against Barnsley on Sunday.
The Toon play host to the Yorkshire outfit at St. James’ Park, and can be promoted as champions if they better Brighton’s result against Aston Villa.
Posting on his personal Twitter account, former Magpies star Solano is keeping his fingers crossed that the Toon go up as champions as the fans “deserve” just that.

Rafa Benitez’s side have already gained promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
But to go up as champions, Benitez will be hoping his side can produce a repeat of October’s 2-0 away win against the Tykes that saw Dwight Gayle score twice either side of half time.

Newcastle come into the game off the back of two consecutive wins against Preston and Cardiff, while Chris Hughton’s Seagulls have lost their last two as they travel to Villa Park on Sunday.
Peruvian star Solano had two spells with Newcastle, first moving to the north east in 1998 from Boca Juniors before leaving to join Aston Villa in 2004. He rejoined in 2005 for two more years.
In total, the 42-year-old fan favourite made 327 appearance in all competitions for Newcastle, scoring 26 goals.
In other Newcastle news, Benitez has urged this senior duo to forget about their futures.
