Noel Gallagher in commentary humiliation – fans mock as Man City claim backfires
Noel Gallagher has been slaughtered by football fans after his Man City claimed live on air quickly came back to haunt him during their shock Champions League defeat to Sporting CP.
The defending Premier League champions were hammered 4-1 by the Portuguese side in the Champions League on Tuesday (5 November), despite Phil Foden giving them a 1-0 lead in the fourth minute.
The Oasis singer claimed, “I didn’t expect this to be so easy,” during his co-commentary debut on TNT Sports as his team led the game in the opening exchanges.
However, a hat-trick from Viktor Gyokeres and a goal from Maximiliano Araujo quickly turned that around and blew Pep Guardiola’s side away.
The defeat marked City’s third consecutive loss after being beaten by Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth in the Premier League heading into this game.
Rival supporters took pleasure in Gallagher’s frustrations as the match wore on though, with fans claiming the guitarist ended up becoming “rattled” because of the result.
