Noel Whelan has tipped Norwich City to sign Josh King as Everton plan not to pursue a long-term deal.

The former Leeds United striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 29-year-old would be the perfect foil to Teemu Pukki at Carrow Road.

As revealed by Football Insider, Carlo Ancelotti is veering towards not taking up the option to sign King permanently at the end of the season.

It is understood the Toffees paid Bournemouth £2million to sign the Norway international until the end of the season.

However, he has played a bit-part role at Goodison Park, with just eight substitute appearances under his belt.

With King set to become a free agent this summer, Whelan suggested Championship table-toppers Norwich could launch a move.

Whelan told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Josh King has probably still kept his name out there for other teams to take that opportunity.

“Norwich might be a good one for him. They’re always looking for players in that kind of style of play. Someone who can run in behind alongside Teemu Pukki.

“That might be a way forward for him. It might give the opportunity to Josh King to be back in the Premier League. A chance to kickstart his career off again.”

King has scored a total of 48 goals in 169 Premier League appearances, although he is yet to net for Everton.

Norwich currently sit 13 points clear of second-placed Watford at the top of the Championship.

In other news, Danny Mills has named Kalidou Koulibaly as the “perfect” signing for Everton and not Liverpool.
