Leeds United fans have taken to social media to destroy the first half performance of Eunan O’Kane in the club’s clash against Sheffield United on Saturday.

The central enforcer returned to the starting XI against the Blades after serving a three match ban for his red card in the 1-0 defeat to Ipswich, and was handed the key role of captain by new manager Paul Heckingbottom.

However the 27-year-old had a nightmare start to the game at Bramall Lane, with his early headed clearance from a cross finding more height than distance and dropping to Sheffield United’s Billy Sharp, who pulled off a sensational volley to give the home side the lead after just 75 seconds.

Fans were less than impressed with what they saw from their chosen leader in the first 45 minutes, and turned to Twitter to voice their anger at his sub-par display.

Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:

This season has seen O’Kane in and out of the first team, with his 23 appearances made up of 19 starts and four substitute appearances, while he has three assists to his name.

He has a total of 49 outings for the Whites since signing from Bournemouth in the summer of 2016, but is still waiting to score his first goal for the club.

In other Leeds United news, Heckingbottom’s unwillingness to upset the apple cart is cause for concern.
