Darren Bent fumed over Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa continuing not to make the most of having Eddie Nketiah on the club’s books.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international was convinced that Bielsa wasn’t helping Nketiah or the club by using him sparingly.
The 20-year-old forward, who is on loan at Elland Road from Arsenal, was brought on at half-time during the 1-0 win over Birmingham City on Saturday with the Leeds boss preferring to start Patrick Bamford.
Bent fumed over Nketiah’s minutes still being limited at Elland Road after he scored a hat-trick for England’s U-21s during the international break and added that he could envision the Gunners recalling the attacker in January.
When asked if Bielsa isn’t helping Nketiah by limiting him to cameo appearances, Bent told Football Insider: “Yeah, he’s not doing Eddie any favours or Leeds any favour because I’m telling you if this continues in January, Arsenal will take him out of there and play him somewhere else.
“You can’t have a kid like that raring to go, we’ve just seen score a hat-trick for England’s U-21s, playing at a really good level, getting 15 minutes there or getting 30 minutes there, it’s not going to work.
“Arsenal will say it’s not good enough as we’ve sent him out to get minutes and he’s not getting minutes, so what is going to happen, Arsenal will take him out of Leeds and they will be left with one striker, then what do they do?”
Nketiah has featured 10 times across all competitions for the Whites this season and has scored four goals as well as registered one assist in the process.
The 20-year-old is yet to complete 90 minutes in the Championship for Leeds and recently vented his frustration over not starting games.
