Idrissa Gueye has stated that the Everton players cannot concern themselves with the manager situation at Everton, as it’s not their job.
In an interview with Sky Sports News (Sunday 11:12), the defensive midfielder spoke on the Toffees current troubles revealing the players’ attitudes towards the situation.
“Players are focusing on what they can do on the pitch, the club and the other people try to fix it, it’s not our job to sort this problem,” said Gueye.
“We have a manager, David [Unsworth], we are happy to be with him.”
Everton have been without a manager since sacking Ronald Koeman on October 23, and Unsworth has been in temporary control for six games.
Unsworth has only won one game, a 3-2 victory over Watford, and saw his side hammered 5-1 by Atalanta in their last game on Thursday.
The midfielder added, despite heavy defeats, the team try to stay positive when he said, “we try to win games and help the club to go up, we try to keep the smile.”
Everton’s poor results have seen them slump to 16th in the league with only 12 points from 13 games, and they were eliminated from the Europa League with games to spare.
Gueye has been a regular for Everton this season, playing in every league game and has featured 17 times across all competitions in total.
The midfielder has been with the Toffees since 2016, moving from Aston Villa after their were relegation from the Premier League.
In other Everton news, Robbie Savage believes that this is the manager that the Toffees must get.
