Nottingham Forest appeal could now be delayed in new twist – Kieran Maguire

There is no “guarantee” that Nottingham Forest will have a verdict to their points deduction appeal before the end of the season.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Premier League have a “desire” to complete all appeals but cannot promise a timeline.

Forest were deducted four points earlier this season for a breach of Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules.

A Premier League statement in March then confirmed that Forest have decided to appeal the outcome of their deduction.

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider that Forest’s points deduction appeal is likely to be thrown out.

No ‘guarantee’ Nottingham Forest appeal is delivered before final day

The Premier League stated on Friday (19 April) that they plan to complete Everton’s appeal before the end of the season with their hearing taking place after Forest’s appeal.

However, Maguire has questioned the new timeline after what has been a “farcical” season.

In what has become a farcical season, this is a positive,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.

The time taken to process the commissions and the time taken to get a verdict has been frustrating.

There is a possibility that all three relegation slots will be sorted by the final day of the season, but fans of Everton, Forest, Luton and so on deserve to have a degree of clarity.

They deserve to know whether a 2-0 defeat is good enough or a draw is good enough, so from that point of view it’s an improvement.

“However, I don’t think it’s a guarantee that the result will be out in time – it is more of a desire.
