Nottingham Forest are using PSR as ‘scapegoat’ after new twist – Kieran Maguire
Nottingham Forest chiefs are using PSR as a ‘scapegoat’ to justify their decision to increase ticket prices for the 2024-25 season.
That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that the latest price hike at the City Ground is “ridiculous”.
Forest announced their new ticket pricing last month (23 March) with costs rising by an average of 24 percent for fans.
The cheapest season ticket for adults at the City Ground has now risen to £465.
It follows a season in which Forest have had four points deducted for the club’s breach of Profit and Sustainability Rules in their 2022-23 accounts.
New financial rules being introduced will cap the club’s spending on wages and transfers to 85 percent of their overall revenue.
Nottingham Forest fans made to pay for poor senior decisions
Maguire believes that Forest are using their PSR issues as a “scapegoat” to justify a “ridiculous” increase to prices.
“I think this is a decision driven by PSR issues more than anything else,” Maguire told Football Insider’s Sean Fisher.
“Forest are now using PSR as a scapegoat to justify their decisions.
“One of the things I’ve noticed about going to the City Ground is that Forest’s fans generate one of the best atmospheres in the Premier League.
“If those fans are going to be squeezed out and replaced by tourists, well, they don’t make the noise.

“So it is a ridiculous increase, especially as Forest haven’t set the Premier League alight.
“So it looks as if the fans, to a certain extent, are being made to pay for the poor decisions made by others in terms of recruitment which spectacularly failed.“
