Kieran Maguire: Nottingham Forest building ‘major alliance’ amid behind-the-scenes latest
Nottingham Forest consider themselves big players in the top flight – and this is reflected in their strategy of cosying up to the so-called ‘Big Six’.
That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Premier League new boys’ latest moves behind the scenes.
Forest sided with the ‘Big Six’ – Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham – on a recent shareholder vote on half-time interviews and greater training ground media access.

And the Daily Mail reported last Friday (19 August) that the Midlands side are now making a conscious effort to align themselves with English football’s most powerful clubs.
Maguire explained the merits of this strategy and how it illustrates Forest’s ambition to become a force in the top flight.
“Under the owner, Forest want to see themselves as significant players and build up major alliances in the Premier League,” he told Football Insider’s Adam Williams,
“Therefore, they are trying to show that they aren’t going to align all the time with the other 14 teams in the Premier League
“This is their way of saying to the ‘Big Six’, whose reputation has been tarnished by the Super League, that they are new kids on the block and that they won’t pre-judge. They want a business relationship.”

Forest beat West Ham last Sunday (14 August) to secure their first three points in the Premier League for over 20 years.
Steve Cooper’s side are in action against Everton on Saturday (20 August).
