Nottingham Forest could be forced to accept Chris Wood offer – sources

Nottingham Forest could be forced to sell Chris Wood this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking in the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Premier League clubs would eye a move for Wood, 32, if the Reds are relegated or need to sanction player sales.

It is believed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s side may have to sanction player departures this summer in order to balance their books.

Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that Wood’s exceptional form in recent weeks could see Premier League sides attempt to capitalise on Forest’s need to sell.

Chris Wood set to leave Nottingham Forest this summer?

He joined Forest permanently last summer for a reported £15million after a six-month loan spell from Newcastle United.

The striker has scored 13 goals in all competitions this season, including one in his last four league outings.

He also bagged a sensational hattrick against Newcastle in the Reds’ 3-1 victory on Boxing Day.

A hamstring injury forced him to miss five league games between February and March, but he is still the club’s top goal scorer this season – seven goals ahead of second-place Taiwo Awoniyi.

The club could also be forced to sanction the sale of attacking midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, with Football Insider revealing (1 April) that Tottenham and Newcastle United will have to pay upwards of £50million if they want him this summer.
