Nottingham Forest could join Man City in Premier League fight – Fans react

Nottingham Forest fans have tipped their club to join Man City in a legal battle against the Premier League.

Reports revealed City have described the financial rules as a “tyranny of the majority”, and are calling for rules which determine the fair value of commercial deals, to be scrapped.

This would mean their Abu Dhabi owners could sponsor the club via their other businesses, such as Etihad Airways, at any rate they see fit – essentially destroying any form of financial regulation.

Financial Fair Play and Profit and Sustainability Rules would be made redundant, with City’s books being balanced by what would be outlandish sponsorship payments.

This comes after Nottingham Forest were handed a four-point deduction for breaching financial rules – something City are seeking to avoid via legal action.

As a result, fans have suggested they could be next in line to take the league to court if City are successful, either to claim their points back or to sue for damages.

Nottingham Forest tipped to enter Premier League legal battle

City’s legal action will be seen as an attempt to help them get away with the financial charges they have been presented with, despite Forest already facing strict punishment.

A four-point deduction for one breach of the rules only hints at the punishment City could receive for 115 alleged breaches, and if they get away with it, Forest will feel cheated.

Fans insisted Forest should be next in line to sue the Premier League for unequal treatment.

Others took aim at Man City, noting the disparity between their situations.

On the opposite side of the coin, however, several Forest fans questioned whether the club could benefit from City’s proposed rule change.

In other news, Arsenal and Liverpool supporters have been left raging at the Man City news.
