Nottingham Forest devastated by ‘huge’ Elliot Anderson blow – pundit
Nottingham Forest have been hit by a “huge blow” after Elliot Anderson suffered another injury in their behind-closed-doors pre-season friendly against Millwall.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, ex-Scotland international Alan Hutton admits he ‘feels for’ the 21-year-old after being on the end of a crunching tackle from Millwall midfielder George Saville.
Anderson missed 25 games for Newcastle last season after suffering a devastating back injury while still at the club back in October 2023.
The Scottish midfielder now looks set for another spell on the sidelines just after making the £35 million switch to Forest.

Anderson missed out on a place in Steve Clark’s Scotland Squad for Euro 2024 due to injury and now looks set to miss the start of the new Premier League season.
“It’s a huge blow”, Hutton told Football Insider.
“I really feel for him, I really like him as a player and I was actually surprised when he left Newcastle if I’m being totally honest.
“I understand that teams nowadays have to keep everything financially correct and with the opportunity to bring in big money for him, I see why they’ve taken it.
“When he was fit and playing for Newcastle, I really liked him so I understand why Nottingham Forest have brought him in.
“To then go and get injured again, you’ve done the pre-season, you’ve done the hard work, so now you’re losing out on all that fitness depending on how long you’re out for.
“When he comes back, he’ll need to re-do a pre-season so you’ve got to feel for him.

“I was devastated when he didn’t play for Scotland if I’m being honest because I know how good he can be.
“He’ll just need to keep his head down, work hard, and stay positive.”
