Nottingham Forest dressing room had ‘a problem’ with Ange Postecoglou ‘straight away’

Ange Postecoglou failed to turn things around at Nottingham Forest before being relieved of his duties.

Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo just three games into the season, but he failed to win any of his eight games in charge at the City Ground.

Postecoglou was sacked following Forest’s 3-0 defeat to Chelsea on 18 October, forcing the club to move quickly in their attempts to appoint his successor.

Sean Dyche was drafted in to replace the Australian manager on 21 October as he looks to help Forest move away from the Premier League relegation zone.

Forest claimed a 2-0 victory over Porto in the Europa League on 23 October in what was Dyche’s first game in charge, but they lost 2-0 against Bournemouth on Sunday (26 October).

Nottingham Forest ‘issue’ removed after Ange Postecoglou sacking

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider some of Forest’s players had a “problem” with Postecoglou during his short spell at the City Ground.

The 60-year-old spent just 39 days in charge of the Nottingham club before his sacking.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “From what you can gather from what the players have said themselves, it does sound like there was a problem with Postecoglou that will go away.

“I mean, it does sound like for whatever reason he had an issue with some of the dressing room right from the start.

“If that can be removed, I think Forest can move up the table quite quickly, such that relegation isn’t the issue and that they can at least have a stab at doing something in the Europa League and then they’ll go again next season.”

Forest currently sit 17th in the league phase of the Europa League, having picked up four points from their opening three matches.

Nottingham Forest’s January transfer plan revealed

Dyche, who left Everton earlier this year, has signed a contract at the City Ground until 2027.

Football Insider revealed on 21 October Dyche won’t be given a big budget by Forest in the January transfer window.

It is understood the 54-year-old will have to work with the players currently at his disposal after the club spent more than £200million on summer arrivals.

Forest currently sit 18th in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-bottom Fulham after nine games.
