Nottingham Forest expected 4-3-3 v Norwich: Defenders axed, Bendtner omitted

By Harvey Byrne

Manager Philippe Montanier is expected to make four changes to his side as they host Norwich at the City Ground on Saturday.

Michael Mancienne and Danny Fox are likely to return to the Midlands side’s defence, after they suffered a second consecutive 2-2 draw against Rotherham on Wednesday.

This will see Armand Traore and Damien Perquis drop out of the side, with the latter picking up a knock at the end of the first half against the Millers.

Mills and Mancienne have not started in defence under Montanier in the new campaign, bringing a new look to the Midlands side defence.

Mustapha Carayol and Hildeberto Pereira will also be expected to come back into the side with Nicolao Dumitru and Jorge Grant making way.

Given the form of Apostolos Vellios, who has scored two goals in the last two matches while leading the line, it is expected that the high profile new signing Nicklas Bendtner will have to wait a while longer to make his first start for the club.

Ben Osborn and Carayol will be expected to provide the width and support for the Greek forward, as Forest continue life without current top scorer Oliver Burke on the wing, who left for Red Bull Leipzig in the summer.

Behind the front three will see midfield trio Pereira, Henri Lansbury and Pajtim Kasami, with the former returning from a one-match suspension following the Rotherham encounter.

Centre-back duo Mancienne and Mills will line up in defence, with Fox and Eric Lichaj either side of the pair, with the two full-backs efficient in attack and defence.

New summer signing Vladimir Stojković will also keep his place in the squad behind the side’s back four.

Forest last faced Norwich in 2015 suffering a 3-1 defeat after goals from Jonny Howson, Cameron Jerome and Wes Hoolahan cancelled out a Chris Burke strike.

The Canaries have started the new campaign in impressive form and they head to the City Ground on the back of two consecutive victories.
