Nottingham Forest fans all say the same thing about Nuno Espirito Santo as new exit update emerges

Nottingham Forest fans believe that the stars are about to align for Nuno Espirito Santo to return to the club as transfer chief Edu Gaspar faces the threat of being sacked.

Nuno led Forest to seventh place in the Premier League last term as they were just pipped to Champions League qualification by Newcastle.

Fall-outs behind the scenes saw them start this season pretty poorly under his guidance, however, and the club’s chiefs decided to relieve him of his managerial duties in September, just three games into 2025-26.

Nuno was appointed as West Ham’s new boss a few weeks later, but he has been unable to lead them away from the relegation zone so far, and they sit one place and four points behind Forest in 18th right now.

West Ham are considering sacking Nuno, with Sean Dyche also under pressure at the City Ground, and Forest fans believe that the first step to his return is about to be taken if Edu departs.

Edu could be dismissed by Forest amid ongoing struggles

Forest hired Edu as their new Global Head of Football in July after he had initially left his sporting director role at Arsenal to work with club owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Edu and Nuno fell out at Forest in the summer over the club’s transfer policy and differences in views, and the disagreement was reported as a huge contributing factor to the Portuguese manager’s exit in September.

With the Reds struggling near the bottom of the table four months on, and numerous summer signings failing to perform, the Telegraph’s John Percy has reported that Edu is now under pressure, with doubts emerging over his future at the club.

There are also lingering questions around Dyche’s position as manager right now, with the Reds in the midst of a four-game losing run in the Premier League.

Forest fans have connected the dots following new reports around Edu’s potential departure, with many of the belief that Marinakis could soon return to Nuno if he is sacked by West Ham and Dyche leaves the City Ground.

Forest fans forecast Nuno return amid Edu sack uncertainty

Taking to X to react to the Edu update, one fan said: “You can see Nuno being potted by West Ham, Edu leaving Forest and Nuno being reappointed at Forest. If you remember the statement when Sean Dyche was appointed it said ‘an appointment headed by Edu’ – we all know it’s gone wrong ever since.

Another added: “The next piece of the Nuno redemption arc jigsaw falls into place,” with a fingers-crossed emoji.

Forest face the Hammers in a huge game on Tuesday night, with one fan also saying: “It would be Forest after all. We win tomorrow night. Get Nuno sacked, Dyche sacked, and Edu sacked. Then back with Nuno, lol.”
