Nottingham Forest fans explode after ‘unbelievable’ points deduction twist
Nottingham Forest fans are fuming after Leicester City confirmed they have won their appeal against their charge for a breach of the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
In a statement issued via Leicester’s official website, the club revealed that their challenge has been upheld by an independent appeal board.
However, the wording of the statement hinted that there was a loophole found in the rules – rather than the club being found innocent.
It read: “In its decision, the Appeal Board (which was made of up a panel of three experienced, senior lawyers, two of whom are former Court of Appeal judges) identifies flaws in the drafting of the Premier League’s rules.
“In challenging the Premier League’s attempts to charge Leicester City, the Club has simply sought to ensure (in the interests of providing consistency and certainty for all clubs) that the rules are applied based on how they are actually written.“
As a result, the Foxes have avoided facing a points deduction as seen given to both Nottingham Forest and Everton last season.
Forest were deducted four points after their breach of PSR – a decision which, at the time, left fans fuming at the Premier League.
Now, those frustrations have flared up once more after Leicester have managed to avoid a similar deduction on a technicality.

The Premier League’s statement has revealed that Leicester avoided the punishment due to spending a season in the Championship after their relegation.
This was despite Forest being punished after spending two of the three years taken into account in their hearing in the second tier.
Taking to social media in response to the latest development, fans have exploded at the Premier League and PSR once more, labelling them “a complete farce”.
