Nottingham Forest fans explode at Premier League after points deduction twist

Nottingham Forest fans have lashed out at the Premier League after a new profit and sustainability twist emerged on 6 August.

Finance expert Stefan Borson revealed Man United were given an “exceptional” £40million COVID allowance in 2022, compared to other clubs’ £1million.

“United would have failed PSR in the season just gone, save for two things,” he told talkSPORT live on 6 August.

“It appears they were given an exceptional allowance of £40million for COVID in 2022, which no other club had. The most any other club had was about £1million.”

As per Borson’s claims, United were allowed to get away with an additional £40million in losses thanks to the Premier League while other clubs suffered.

Forest and Everton were especially affected, as both clubs received points deductions as a result of PSR breaches last season.

Forest received a four-point deduction for one breach of PSR, while Everton were handed two deductions totalling eight points, landing both clubs with the serious threat of relegation.

Both clubs survived in the end and Luton were relegated, but it was the Premier League that made their situation far more precarious than was needed.

Now it has emerged that United were given help to avoid a similar situation, and supporters have been left outraged, labelling the league “corrupt” and a “disgrace”.
