Nottingham Forest fans hail ‘incredible’ Joe Worrall after exit news

Nottingham Forest fans are paying tribute to defender Joe Worrall as his departure from the City Ground edges closer.

This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed that the centre-back was undergoing his medical ahead of a move to Burnley.

Worrall has been at Forest since 2011 when he joined the academy and has since featured 226 times for his boyhood club.

During that time, he made 168 appearances in the Championship and played a key role in helping the club gain promotion to the Premier League in 2022.

However, he has fallen out of favour at the City Ground in recent years, spending the first half of last season on loan at Besiktas and featuring just seven times in the Premier League upon his return.

The defender’s contract is set to run until 2026, but Forest have moved to cash in early.

Nottingham Forest fans emotional as Joe Worrall exit draws near

Worrall’s exit became inevitable after dropping out of contention under Nuno Espirito Santo, with the expectation that he would leave before 31 August growing throughout the summer.

Sources say Burnley are hopeful of wrapping up his signing before their clash against Sunderland on Saturday 24 August – as his exit edges closer.

Forest fans have taken to social media in reaction to the news as they paid tribute to one of their long-serving stars as his City Ground career draws to a close.
