Nottingham Forest fans: ‘Nuno Espirito Santo will be sacked as Marinakis fumes’

Nottingham Forest fans are convinced Nuno Espirito Santo could be sacked following their final game of the Premier League season.

Nuno’s side fell to a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea at the City Ground, in a closely-fought game which saw the sides locked at 0-0 heading into half-time.

The second half saw Levi Colwill break the deadlock shortly after the break, before a number of Forest chances went begging and the game ultimately ended in defeat.

This meant they had dropped to seventh in the Premier League table, missing out on both the Champions League and Europa League, but securing Conference League qualification.

However, while fans looked at the bigger picture given their pre-season expectations, that was not the case for everybody at the City Ground.

An image of a very frustrated-looking Evangelos Marinkais was shown on the Sky Sports broadcast and quickly did the rounds on social media, leading to suggestions of the sack.

Evangelos Marinakis frustrations grow after Nuno clash

Tensions between Nuno and Marinakis had reached an apparent peak after an on-field clash against Leicester – although the owner was quick to clear up the reasons for his anger.

An official statement by the owner explained that he was frustrated given the injury sustained by Taiwo Awoniyi which saw him rushed to hospital.

However, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Nuno had been left “humiliated” as he labelled Marinakis “embarrassing”.

That is despite Football Insider revealing in March that Forest want Nuno to sign a new contract and will do everything they can to get a deal signed.

Nottingham Forest fans insist Nuno Espirito Santo could be sacked

Despite a frustrating end to the season, it is important for supporters to look forward to their return to European Competitions, albeit not the creme de la creme.

However, Forest won just one of their final five league games with Champions League qualification in their own hands before it quickly disappeared.

As frustrations spread through the fanbase and Marinakis fumed in the stands, many took to social media to insist Nuno could be sacked “tomorrow”.
