Nottingham Forest fans rage at Collymore after he slaughters the club

Nottingham Forest fans are furious with Stan Collymore’s verdict on the club’s statement regarding their multiple controversies in their clash against Everton on Sunday (21 April).

The Reds suffered a bruising 2-0 defeat against the fellow relegation-battling Toffees, but the club insisted that they should have had three penalties during the showdown at Goodison Park.

Forest released a statement on X after the loss claiming that they should have had three spot kicks and that the VAR official Stuart Atwell was a fan of Luton Town, another side fighting relegation.

Collymore, who made 37 Premier League appearances for Forest and bagged 22 goals, subsequently took to social media to slaughter his former club’s claims.

The ex-striker was adamant that Forest should not have accused the Premier League of “corruption” without definitive proof, urged the club to focus on their relegation-determining remaining fixtures and bashed fans for making claims “without consequences”.

After the controversy, Forest revealed that they have submitted a formal request to the PGMOL to release the audio recordings of the “three key match incidents” – Ashley Young’s 24th-minute tackle on Giovanni Reyna, Young’s 44th-minute handball and Young’s tackle on Callum Hudson-Odoi in the 56th minute.

Collymore’s claims about Forest have sparked fury among the fanbase, who largely believe that they were unfairly officiated against Everton.

Supporters have taken to social media in response to Collymore, and some feel that he has “lost the plot”.

In other news, Nottingham Forest appeal could now be delayed in new twist – Kieran Maguire.
