Nottingham Forest table new £3.5m bid for goalscorer – reliable journalist

By Matt Farr

Nottingham Forest have had their latest improved offer for Bolton forward Zac Clough rejected, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports reported in their transfer centre blog (17:18) on Tuesday that the League One side had already rejected two offers from Nottingham Forest for his services.

However, Nottingham Post reporter Paul Taylor later claimed on his personal Twitter account that they had made a new bid worth £3.5million, but Bolton issued the same emphatic response.

Their previous offer was believed to have been in the region of £2million.

Bolton are believed to be willing to let Clough leave the club, despite his worth to the team, due to their ongoing financial woes.

The 21-year-old has contributed nine goals and five assists from 29 appearances in all competitions this season.

However, they are still looking to get the best possible deal, and Forest’s previous offers have not yet been satisfactory.

Football Insider verdict

He may not have been the Clough they had in mind to head in to the club this month, but he could have a similar impact. He could inject some much-needed life into the Nottingham Forest attack, with his energy, pace and goalscoring ability. Forest have taken a liking to nurturing young players and giving them a role to play in the first-team squad, and Clough would continue that trend if he were to arrive at the City Ground. It remains to be seen how far Forest are willing to take negotiations, because Bolton will be desperate to make as much money as they can on deadline day. However, the highly-rated attacking star would be worth the financial setback.

In other Nottingham Forest transfer news, the club have completed the signing of this midfielder on loan until the end of the season.
