‘Nottingham Forest handed Harvey Elliott boost as Florian Wirtz to Liverpool gathers pace’
Nottingham Forest have enjoyed a largely successful Premier League campaign and can still earn Champions League qualification.
After facing a relegation battle just last season, the East Midlands side have already secured some form of European football ahead of next term.
But Nuno Espirito Santo’s men must defeat Chelsea on Sunday, 25 May, and hope that other results go their way to seal an all-important top-five spot.
Whether the City Ground outfit secure Champions League football or not, they will still be keen on having a strong transfer window and have set their sights on Liverpool star Harvey Elliott.

Liverpool’s Wirtz developments could help Forest seal Elliott move
While Football Insider exclusively revealed Forest’s interest in Elliott, Liverpool are also keen on bolstering their own attacking midfield options.
Arne Slot’s freshly crowned Premier League champions are set to beat rivals Manchester City to Florian Wirtz’s signature.
Florian Wirtz stats | Bundesliga 2024/25 |
Appearances | 31 |
Goals | 10 |
Assists | 12 |
The Bayer Leverkusen star has enjoyed a stellar Bundesliga season, notching 10 goals and 12 assists in 31 top-flight appearances.
Meanwhile, Elliott is already behind Dominik Szoboszlai in Slot’s pecking order, and the potential arrival of Wirtz would only further reduce the Englishman’s game time.
Therefore, the Anfield club’s advances for the Leverkusen ace could open the door for Forest to sign Elliott.

Elliott could help Forest replace Morgan Gibbs-White
Morgan Gibbs-White has been a central figure in Forest’s unlikely push for Champions League football and has made 15 goal contributions in the Premier League this term.
The England international has been in particularly good form in recent weeks, as he scored a goal in a vital 2-1 win over West Ham United last time out on 18 May after notching both a goal and an assist in a 2-2 draw with East Midlands rivals Leicester City.
But Forest may not be able to enjoy the services of Gibbs-White for much longer, amid interest from Pep Guardiola’s Man City.
Replacing the 25-year-old could be seen as an impossible task for Espirito Santo’s side, but acquiring Elliott’s signature could go some way to filling that void.
While Elliott has endured a lack of game time for Liverpool this term, he has still shown his attacking class by scoring five goals and making three assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.
